HomeBe in AFMBuzz › New York Fashion Week Fall 2011- Translated for Your Wedding Attire

The runway. The models.

Fashion fashion fashion.

It might as well be an official holiday:: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The week of high-end couture is upon us and the runways are full of new takes on American Classics using textures, patterns, bold colors and the ever-classic black.

From NYC to your wedding day, how do this seasons looks translate?

Think of your wedding festivities as your runway, your chance to shine by designing a series of celebrations around your “personality” trends. You want to make a statement, be chic and timeless.

From the high fashioned runway to your bridal shower and beyond I am here to give you some inspiration and ideas!

There were so many beautiful designs but I chose the ones that brides could translate best into their wardrobe for their wedding celebrations.

Trend #1:: Crimson

It’s sexy, totally glamorous and makes a statement. Also every designer incorporated red into their runway looks, even if it was in a lip color or their shoes. Red is in.

This stunning dress by Marchesa not only brings in the trend of color but the high collar and oversized shoulder carries over the feeling of English Royalty wear from decades ago.

I think I have died and gone to heaven. Chanel’s signature red tweed jacket on a black. Chic, glamorous, timeless.

Michael Kors did it again. He took straight linens put them into a simply chic design, added fur and made a strong red design.

How fun would it be to wear a fur (or a foe fur) towards the end of your reception. It would make for stunning grand exit pictures!

Trend #2:: Polka Dots

Pattern is in this season and the runway proved it. The pattern than continued to play repeat by many designers was the classic polka dot.

This trend doesn’t have to be just in clothes. It can be on a cake, in a linen on your table of the theme for a playful bridal shower.

Gucci’s design not only carried the vogue pattern but also incorporated sheer fabric, which was another huge trend that will be seen in fashion this fall.

Again we see the sheer fabric incorporated on parts of this Stella McCartney dress.

My personal favorite design that incorporated polka dots and lace. How sexy is this design by Dolce and Gabbana. Sexy just might be the new spin on the polka dot pattern.

Trend #3:: Lace

Bridal gowns have been popping up in wedding boutiques with lace more and more over the past few years. This year it was a very popular detail for many designs on the runway.

It’s sexy, sophisticated and your mom is going to LOVE it!

Dolce & Gabbana stole my heart again with this design. The see-through lace on the bodice is sexy and full of character. A stunning look for a bridal shower or bachelorette party dinner dress.

A red lip, black “mens” ware jacket for woman and a lace dress. Stunning. Stunning. Stunning.

Trend #4:: Menswear for Woman

A bowtie on a female is always sexy. I think we have Playboy to thank for that. Menswear for women, tailored and straight lined designs, is a a bold design for the bride who wants to make a trend setting fashion statement. Great for an guest arrival reception a few days before the wedding.

Michael Kors take on menswear:: a deep-v white tucked in top with tailored pants. Sexy and chic.

Whatever design you decide on for your wedding day and surrounding celebrations, make sure you rock it.

Your personality and design should be defined. So rock it!
