Visitors still have time to enjoy Frida Kahlo-Her Photos, which will be on display at the Heard Museum through February 8, 2016 and is a perfect opportunity to explore the incredible life of Frida Kahlo.

Frida Kahlo-Her Photos, features a glimpse into her life through her photographs through a diverse selection of over 240 photographs and personal items. Photography played a vital role in Kahlo’s life especially during her periods of immobilization and isolation caused her deteriorating health conditions. Kahlo had an extensive and striking collection of images taken by famed artists Man Ray, Tina Modotti, Edward Weston and many others. Photographs were important tools for the artist utilizing them in her artwork as well as a strong family connection to photography, as both her grandfather and father were professional photographers.

This exhibition is displayed on six areas of importance “Frida’s Loves and Photography”, “The Origins,” “Her Broken Body”, “Politics,” “Revolutions and Diego” and “The Blue House”. Highlights of the exhibition include many stunning portraits of the artist at work including the 1951 “Frida painting the portrait of her father by Gisèle Fruend”. “Frida Kahlo by Lola Álvarez Bravo” is an iconic image captured in 1944 of the artist at her home with one of her dogs. The exhibition also features wonderful activity stations "Las Favoritas de Frida" inviting patrons to write a letter to the artist or even construct their very your own taco, which helps to make the exhibition accessible for all ages.

Be sure to head to the Head Museum for First Fridays at the Heard: ‘New at NU’ on January 1st, 2016 for a wonderful evening of art and more featuring live music from DJ Seduce in the Steele Auditorium, food from the Courtyard Café, beverages from Coffee Cantina, plus demonstration from painter Mike Zillioux (Gila River). Patrons can enjoy free admission for the evening to the Heard’s 12 exhibit galleries, including the two Frida Kahlo exhibits.
