Musical Instrument Museum (MIM is a wonderful global musical instrument museum, featuring 6,000 instruments collected from around 200 countries and territories with over 360 exhibits throughout the museum. “The museum’s collection of more than 15,000 instruments and artifacts was acquired in the geographic and cultural regions where these instruments are played and have the most cultural relevance”, states the MIM.
Visitors are able to see, hear and observe the instrument, in their proper context at a majority of the displays featuring state-of-the-art audio and video. The museum offers several galleries for patrons to enjoy including in their Geographic Galleries, which focuses on five major global regions: Africa and the Middle East, Asia and Oceania, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United States and Canada. Play in the Experience Gallery where all guests can play a variety of instruments from around the world The Artist Gallery showcases music icons through the eras with such artists as Johnny Cash and Taylor Swift, highlighting their instruments, costumes, and video footage of them performing on stage.
The Musical Instrument Museum is located at 4725 E. Mayo Boulevard in Phoenix (corner of Tatum and Mayo Boulevards, just south of Loop 101). The museum is open daily 9-5pm with admission prices ranging general adult $20, Teens (13-19) $15, Children (4-12) are $10 and Children (3 and under) are free.
