Here is a great list of the top art exhibitions to attend this month around town...

First head to the Phoenix Art Museum To experience the incredible "Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Leicester and the Power of Observation" on view in the Steele Gallery through Saturday, January 24, 2015 - Sunday, April 12, 2015. This exhibition showcases the only manuscript by Leonardo in an American collection, the Codex Leicester, a 72 page manuscript.This exhibition focuses on Da Vinci's three primary characteristics: curiositydirect observation, and thinking on paper, which were vital parts of the creative process and led to many discoveries and inventions. PAM states "This exhibition of Leonardo’s Codex Leicester will be groundbreaking in its approach of bringing Leonardo into a broad artistic context that explores his continuing influence on artists into our own time." The exhibition also features works from a diverse group of artists that reflect Da Vinci's practices within there own work including such artists as Adams, Edward Weston, Eadweard Muybridge, Kiki Smith and Bill Viola. This exhibition is included in General Admission. General Admission is $15 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-17, $12 for Seniors and $10 for college students w/ID. Museum members and children under age 6 are admitted free. Be sure to check out the Thursday Night Scottsdale ArtWalk held every week 7-9pm in old town Scottsdale. Head to the newly relocated Tilt Gallery who is currently showcasing the work of local artist Casebeer with "Everything is Fine Here". This exhibition is a brilliant body of work stemming from a non fictional novel that she  is currently creating that explores the artworks and marginalia as a working outline for the book are about "the proverbial elephant in the room, this new body of work will have elements of mental mapping by way of illustration, the writing of related stories surrounding the question, Is it just the brain, or is it something else." Patrons have the opportunity to meet Casebeer at Tilt gallery when they hosting the artist reception located at 7077 East Main Street, Scottsdale. http://www.tiltgallery.com.

Don't miss exploring the ASU Art Museum and there diverse selection of exhibitions including the much raved about "Unfixed: New Painting" which highlights the work of Katherine Bernhardt, Hugh Scott Douglas, Jeff Elrod, Daniel Lefcout, Eddie Peake, Avery Singer, Josh Smith, and Brad Troemel. This exhibition examines the idea of "unfix historic notions of what a painting should, resulting in a range from abstractions derived from street and popular culture to computer-generated algorithms printed on canvas." Catch "Unfixed: New Painting"on view until June 6th. The ASU Art Museum is free to the public, open Tuesday through Saturday and is located at 51 E. 10th Street, Tempe.
