First head over to the Scottsdale Waterfront where you can experiences “Jellies in the Sky, Cacti in the Water” a captivating large scale temporary installation of glowing, color-changing fiber optic sculptures for created by Los Angeles based artist, Shana Koenig. The idea behind this beautiful artwork was to “bring the ocean to our skies and desert plant life into the waters of the Arizona Canal between the Soleri and Marshall Way bridges” says SPA. This installation is a part of Scottsdale Fall for the Arts and it will remain on display through mid-January 2015. Located at the Scottsdale Waterfront 4420 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.

Next stop is the newest addition to the SPA permanent collection “Impulsion” a massive steel sculpture recently installed at WestWorld created by local artist, Jeff Zischke. An interactive sculpture that is both unique and educational made up of brushed stainless steel tubing standing an impressive 20′ tall. SelfieCenteredPBugg

Final stop is at the Scottsdale Quarter where you will find charming photographic sculptures of some of our favorite local celebrities. #Selfie-Centered was created by local Tempe artist and teacher Peter Bugg commenting on the “Selfie”. He produced a series of 4 life-size vinyl photo sculptures of local personalities Robert Sentinery, Tania Katan, Caitlin Turner, and Oscar De Las Salas. Everyone takes “selfies” now days and Bugg has found a great way to bring attention to this global social phenomenon, by utilizing fun and playful sculptures that give the appearance of real people taking a selfie or allows visitors to take a selfie with the sculptures. This engaging installation will be on display through March 2015 at the Scottsdale Quarter. *Images courtesy of Scottsdale Public Art and Photographer Sean Deckert.
