TheWalls

Have you read the work of Griselda Gambaro or interested in learning more about this controversial writer? Then you won’t want to miss tonight’s (November 13th) special presentation of head the ASU's Banned Plays Reading Series featuring “The Walls” at the SMoCA at 7:00pm.

Griselda Gambaro is a celebrated contemporary playwright from Argentina, who has created controversial works concerning issues of political violence and turmoil in her home country. Her play's explore themes of surveillance, torture and disclosure, which definitely relates perfectly with the SMoCA’s current exhibition "Covert Operations: Investigating the Known Unknowns" not to mention something we can personally relate to in our own lives.

What is “The Walls” all about? A Play filled with dark humor and brilliant drama, which centers around two peculiar civil employees that charge a man with a crime and kidnap him. They lock him away in a room where “the walls” begin to close in on him and he is unable to combat against the abuse and psychological terror he experiences.

The Presentation of “The Walls” is in collaboration with the Performance in the Borderlands initiative at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University.
