WEDnesday - Biggest Wedding Money Savers

Everyone knows that weddings aren't cheap. No matter how small you plan for it to be, or how strict of a budget you set up, chances are good you are going to end up spending more money than you planned. Some of those costs are justified - this is your BIG DAY. However, there are some loopholes we've found that can help you save a great deal of money on your wedding!

#1. The Flowers

People are always surprised by how much wedding flowers end up costing. For things whose life isn't more than a couple of days, it is hard to spend thousands of dollars on greenery for your wedding. In order to avoid higher costs, double dip: use the same flowers for your reception as you did for your ceremony. Also, try to use flowers that are in-season. Anything that is out of season will mean higher prices.

#2. The Food and Libations

Oh the food. This seems to be an area of so much consternation for brides and grooms. What should you serve? Should you serve a sit-down dinner, or a buffet-style dinner? Should you serve dinner at all? What about drinks?

By serving a family-style meal or opting for heavy hor d'oeuvres, you can save yourself a pretty penny. When it comes to alcohol, opt for beer and wine only as opposed to a full bar. This will keep costs way down and also keep your guests from getting too rowdy.

#3. The Venue

Instead of picking different venues for your ceremony and reception, find one that will work for both. This also cuts down on costs of transportation for you and your guests, and makes it easier for you to take our #1 advice about reusing your flowers.
