It may be a little early to map out your escape from Arizona’s summer heat. But when the 100-plus temps hit, you’ll be glad to have a game plan.

Mountainous terrain characterized by sensational scenery and crisp, cool air is a popular summer destination choice among desert dwellers. Many would rather enjoy Mother Nature’s high-altitude air conditioning than the indoor alternative.

For golfers, however, the high temperatures bring with them an annual dilemma. Staying in the Valley during the hottest time of year pays off big in the form of deeply discounted green fees. Yet no matter savings, summer rounds equate with sunburns, sweaty grips and endless bottles of water.

The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks, located approximately an hour outside of Denver, is making the decision a little bit easier. Recently, the club announced a trio of 2010 Annual Golf Passes for corporate, resident and non-resident interests. Of most value to Arizonans, the Non-Resident Annual Pass is ideal for golfers living and working outside a 50-mile radius of the golf club. The pass is offered for $2,150 per individual or $2,350 for families and includes golf access year round with a bevy of amenities to enjoy.

“The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks is a world-class golf course and amenity of Summit County,” says general manager Rhonda Boutelle. “These passes allow local and regional golfers to enjoy this stunning layout and its facilities at a tremendous value.”

All passes include: full use of the golf course, practice range and dining areas, greens fees, range balls, GPS, fifty-percent off guest play and up to 25 percent off pro shop merchandise, discounts on dining and special events, and it covers the annual USGA handicap fee. All passes are non-residual and a $10 per day, per person facility usage fee applies.

Since it’s opening in 2000, The Raven’s Hurdzan-Fry/Tom Lehman-designed course has earned numerous accolades and with just cause. Of particular note are the course’s distinct bunkers, modeled after the signature pattern of Alister Mackenzie at Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, and Kingston Heath.

Combining breathtaking views with terrain-cognizant golf design, the Raven’s most important accessory is its height. At more than 9,000 feet above sea level, The Raven’s altitude yields temperatures 20 degrees cooler than that of Denver (leaps and bounds cooler than summers in the Valley of the Sun).
