If there is one thing that really hampers an awesome day at the Phoenix Open, it is the daunting idea of finding parking. Luckily, tournament coordinators and planners have taken extra care of patrons with parking and transportation options to get tourney-goers to and from the grounds with ease.

As in years past, free public parking is available with complimentary shuttle access to the tournament gates. The free shuttles will operate Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm; Wednesday through Saturday from 6:30 am to 11:00 pm; and Sunday from 6:30 am to 6 pm.

Several public parking lots are available for commuters coming in from all parts of the Valley. Public parking at Loop 101 and Hayden Road is probably the most popular choice because the lot is located just up the road from TPC Scottsdale and spectators can easily walk to the ground if they’d rather not wait for the next shuttle. Officials recommend that eastbound Loop 101 drivers exit at Hayden, and drive south to enter the parking lot on the west side of the road.

An additional parking option is available at WestWorld, located on Bell Rd just east of the tournament grounds. Officials recommend that drivers exit the Loop 101 at Raintree and head east to 94th St, then north to Bell Road. Head west on Bell Road into the WestWorld parking lot.

Making it easy to enjoy a few spirits on hole 16, taxi cab service will be available just outside of the tournament and Birds Nest entrances throughout the week. Taxis will not be permitted to make roadside pickups, so patrons wishing to utilize taxi services should proceed to the designated taxi stands. Please follow the signs directing you to the taxi stands.

If you are arranging a ride and opt to avoid the parking situation altogether, use the “Stop and Drop” option on Hayden Road just south of Bell Road by heading north on Hayden from Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. The “Stop and Drop” is located on the east side of the road in the right hand turn lane.

With more than half-a-million spectators expected to swarm the ground of TPC Scottsdale, the city restricts several routes in order to accommodate event traffic. Roads that are closed to general public traffic during the tournament week include Bell Road from Hayden Road to 82nd Street and 82nd Street from Bell Road to Princess Drive.

In order to get up to the minute traffic information to aid in planning your route to the tournament, the city of Scottsdale offers several resources accessible from anywhere. The City of Scottsdale’s Web site www.ScottsdaleAZ.gov, is especially helpful. Click on the special events link under the “hot topics” area for information on the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
