O.K. Here’s the secret. Adding to the ambiance created by the lavish hats, designer fashions, pricey jewels and dozens of food stations showcasing gourmet food, two truckloads of furniture were brought in from Kari’s home. (And of course they had to truck everything back.)

So along with the furniture donated temporarily from the Thunderbirds who host the Phoenix Open, there were sofas, coffee tables and even candlesticks and other décor from Kari’s home.

Featuring 12, 50” plasma TV’s in the 24 different bungalow areas and an 8 x 13 foot giant digital screen in Millionaires Row, this event is obviously like no other. It’s like building a small city on a patch of grass.

Chef Michael Cairns of Urban Chef’s AZ, formerly of the Biltmore, was on the team for the first event that helped create the theme. He’s now on Homeward Bound’s board and the Biltmore is still a major partner in the event.

And among the winners of the Best Dressed Contest was Sally Lehman who won for the Best Ladies Hat category. She’s pictured above.

Pictured below are Nancy Casey of Hyde Park Jewelers and George, who were enjoying the spirit of the event as I was taking photos.
