As adorable as he is sweet, Dexter is a true gentle giant weighing in at almost 100 pounds! Although he can stand to lose a bit of weight, the seven-year-old Labrador Retriever mix is incredibly calm on the leash and on car rides!
Dexter was rescued as an injured stray in September after he was found by a Good Samaritan in Phoenix and brought to the Arizona Humane Society. Treated in the shelter’s trauma hospital with a dental and a mass removal, the handsome pup is now feeling great and cannot wait to find his perfect forever home.
As large dog breeds continue to put a strain on local and national animal shelters, the Arizona Humane Society and Hill’s Pet Nutrition are partnering up to help more large dogs like Dexter find forever homes. While the shelter is on pace for another record-breaking year, the Arizona Humane Society is hopeful that ongoing promotion and adoption efforts will help resolve overcapacity issues and get larger pets adopted more quickly.
As a part of this ongoing Big Dog Adoption Special, determined Dexter has a $0 adoption fee thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Dexter’s waived adoption fee includes his neuter surgery, current vaccinations, a microchip, and a follow-up wellness exam with a VCA Animal Hospital.
