Surrounded by the beautiful McDowell Mountains, the town of Fountain Hills is located just east of Scottsdale. With a population of about 26,000*, the city is marked as one of the fastest-growing places among cities and towns in Arizona. Let's get to know Fountain Hills and see why.

The Fountain

Just as the name implies, Fountain Hills is usually identified by its majestic fountain. Built by Robert McCulloch in 1970, the town centerpiece stood as the world’s tallest fountain for over a decade. Each St. Patrick’s day, the 560-foot tall fountain is dyed leprechaun green.

Beautiful Surroundings

Despite rapid demographic growth, Fountain Hills has retained its natural beauty of a desert terrain and elevated view, appreciated by residents and visitors alike. Enjoy camping, hiking, biking and horseback riding at the McDowell Mountain Regional Park or tube down the Verde and Salt Rivers at the Salt River Tubing and Recreation.

The nearby Saguaro Lake is the perfect place for boating and fresh water fishing, while the Fort McDowell Casino offers the state’s largest card room, classes and free entertainment.

A Golfer's Paradise

With the McDowell Mountains as its backdrop, Fountain Hills boasts a variety of opportunities for golf mavens. The challenging eighteen-hole course within SunRidge Canyon Golf Club is shaped by the subtle natural elevation change dividing Fountain Hills from Scottsdale. The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain was rated “Top 50 Public Course’s In The Country,” according to a 2009 Golf World Readers Poll. The gorgeous FireRock Country Club vaunts a panoramic view of the desert and keeps with native vegetation lining the course lines.
