It's right before Thanksgiving weekend, and I get a call on my cell phone late in the day.
Just that morning we had a meeting at work about how Arizona Foothills Magazine could assist the local nonprofits in raising money in the new year. In past years, money came flowing in to them, but now, times have changed. Our Valley has grown and now there is such a greater need.
Getting back to that call, it was from F.O. Buck (one of the best home builders in Arizona) saying that he is finishing his latest home, and he would like it to be considered for the 2009 Designer Showhouse. If you do not know F.O. Buck that's O.K., because he is a very quiet and giving man who does not look for self promotion. He just wants to give back to this great city. I was thinking back to the Arizona Foothills Magazine Showhouse we did with him in 2003 and was very excited to see what he had in store for us this time.
The next week I arrived at his home and knew right away I was looking at one of the most spectacular homes ever built in Arizona. He not only did it again, he really outdid himself this time. This amazing estate, situated above the Paradise Valley Country Club with a commanding view of the golf course and Camelback Mountain, will be listed for more than $20 million.
Getting back to the tie with nonprofits? They were thinking the same as we were. How do we help local nonprofits in 2009? The answer is the 2009 Arizona Foothills Magazine Designer Showhouse. The great news is that F.O. Buck, with his son Brent, is completing what we believe will be the most amazing home ever available to the public. This year in April, the house will offer more opportunities for charitable events and will benefit several nonprofits, rather than just one. The new year is off to a great start, and I wish you and your family only the best! Everything does happen for a reason, and six years ago when we worked with F.O. and Brent, we had tremendous success. This year will be no different. We look forward to seeing you at the house in April.
