HomeFeaturesOn the Scene with Nadine › Babes of Baseball: Giants Pitcher Brian Wilson - Page 2

Wilson joined the Giants in 2006.

The 28 year old calls the Marina District of San Francisco home, but enjoys his stay in the Valley for Spring Training.

”It’s kind of like a mini-Los Angeles because you have a ton of theatrics to choose from.  There’s always something to do, and there are a ton of fans here.”

Even in Arizona, Wilson is surrounded by a ton of fans, but he calls his team-mates family.

“You call any player on the team regardless and they’ll show up and support you no matter what.”

It’s a brother-like comradely.

When he’s not hanging out with his pitcher-pal Barry Zito, or practicing on the field with his colleagues, you can often find Wilson doing yoga, kickboxing…or playing chess.

”If someone wanted to challenge me, I would play.”

Here’s one that will surely make the ladies swoon; Wilson had a brief stint in the Chess Club during high school.

And as for his style, he rocks 80s fashion and prefers 80s music like Poison and Motley Crue.

But don’t go chasing after his heart quite yet.

While Wilson is an eligible bachelor, he’s off the market.

“I’m not looking for anything; I’m here to play baseball.”

The game is the love of his life, and it’s that game that made Wilson a World Series winner.

He’ll forever leave his heart in San Francisco, forever savoring that 2010 victory.

“The moment we won I just looked in the dug-out and saw chaos.  There was a bunch of guys--grown men--running after me to the mound.  Once everyone got there we didn’t know what to do…we just jumped around and took in the moment.”

It’s the moment the highly-feared bearded pitcher will never forget.

And he hopes to reach such success this 2011 season.
