Jesse, a Valley father of 2, was told recently that he needed a kidney transplant.  Shortly after this shocking and devastating news, he was also let go of his job - which meant his health insurance would run out - soon.  There was a very short time to find a donor and get Jesse's life saving surgery set up before the cost of his health care would skyrocket.

"It wasn't even a question," Diana, Jesse's younger sister, told me when I asked about getting tested to be a match for - and there was no hesitation when she did end up being a match.  "We've always been close - Jesse is 8 years older than me and has always been my big brother."  Their roles are now reversed and baby sister Diana has a chance to take care of Jesse by donating her kidney.  A mom herself, with three children, she just wants to see her brother back to his energetic former self for his family.

There will still be medical bills, and with the help of friends and family, there will be a huge fundraising event this Sunday, October 7th at Zendejas Grill in Glendale from 11am-6pm.  With a $10 entry fee, you'll enjoy food, drinks, a silent auction and raffle - all to help Jesse and his family after his surgery, and after his health insurance no longer covers his post-op care.   It's sure to be a fun afternoon - they're expecting quite the crowd, but there will definitely be room for more!   Silent auction and raffle items include Cardinals tickets, Carrie Underwood concert tickets, Coyotes tickets, and MUCH MORE!

Zendejas is also donating 20% of their food sales to Jesse's fundraiser, so even if you just stop by for lunch or dinner, you can help out!

Zendejas Grill is located in Glendale at 19420 North 59th Avenue., and again, the fundraiser is from 11am-6pm on Sunday, October 7th.

"This is really a time to celebrate life," Diana shared with me, and I couldn't agree more!
