I grew up in Wisconsin, so bowling has almost always been a part of my life. I can remember one of the best Christmas presents I’ve ever received was my very own (hot pink) bowling ball as a young child. So, when we recently visited Lucky Strike Lanes on a Saturday afternoon for some family time, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

This is definitely not a ‘serious bowler's’ bowling alley – it’s a lounge with a bowling alley. And it’s SO FUN!

As I said before, this is not a typical bowling alley. It’s upscale, lovely, and the prices are competitive with any other bowling alley. ($3.95 per game, per person and $3.95 to rent shoes.)

Even though Lucky Strike is geared towards adults who want to have a fun time bowling, it is also very kid-friendly. They bring out lighter weight bowling balls for the kids, as well as a ramp to help push the ball faster. One thing that I found amazing was that they program the lane so the bumpers, (barriers so the ball doesn’t go in the gutter), only are up while the children are bowling. How neat! Of course, I didn’t have any gutter balls, so that doesn’t affect me either way. (Ha ha!)

Jeremiah helped Sarah get several strikes!

Lucky Strike also has a full menu – and this is far from typical bowling alley food. We ordered grilled cheese sliders and a BBQ chicken pizza for the four of us to share. The sliders normally come with a jalapeño aioli sauce, which I had left off. They were still great for the kids – the perfect size and held together really well. The BBQ chicken pizza was fantastic, too, if not slightly messy!

We visited Lucky Strike on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. If you’re thinking about taking the kids, this was the perfect time! We nearly had the place to ourselves. The four of us bowled two games each, and it was just the right amount for Jeremiah and Sarah – by the end they were both getting pretty tired.

We'll definitely be bowling at Lucky Strike again. The staff was helpful and very attentive, and our family had a really fun (and competitive) time together!
