See which baby names were chosen the most by parents of newborns this year, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services...

Isabella continues her reign as the queen of baby names for the fourth consecutive year in Arizona and Jacob returns from 2009 as the most popular boy’s name. Nearly 1,000 newborn Arizonans were dubbed Isabella or Jacob in 2010.  Both Isabella and Jacob are the top names nationally as reported by Social Security’s Most Popular Baby Names List.

The just-in results show that Sophia holds the number two spot for baby girls for the third year in a row.  Mia, Emma and Olivia round out the top five names given to girls in Arizona in 2010.  Nine of the ten girl’s names from 2009 stayed in the Top Ten.  Natalie edged out Samantha for the number ten spot this year.

Anthony, Daniel, Alexander and Angel return as the second through the fifth most popular boys’ names.  This year there are three boys’ names that made their first appearance in Top Ten:  Gabriel, Jayden and Noah.

The Arizona Department of Health Services collects data from birth certificates in the Office of Vital Records.  For the fourth straight year, the state saw a drop in total births.
