The John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital will boast a brand new third floor called Specialty Surgical Care, and it will open to the public on January 9th.

The remodeled space includes 28 generously sized hotel-esque rooms for elective orthopedic, neuro, spine and urology patients.  A personal greeter will direct patients to their private rooms where they will find a gift bag and undergo personalized admission procedures.

Each room was designed for maximum comfort.  They have glass lighting that dim and brighten naturally, homey wall art, beautiful wooden floors, and much more.  Combine that with state-of-the-art medical features such as an individual medical records computer connection and communication stations, and a true blend of comfort and medical excellence is achieved.

Ten of the rooms are specifically designed for orthopedic patients and include a Liko lift that calmly and carefully raises patients out of bed and can transport them across the room.  Orthopedic patients can also take advantage of a ceiling-based track system installed in the hallway called Secure Track, which hangs armrests for patients to use for walking without falling (think a high tech walker or cane).

The 21,350 square-foot floor was designed by OWP Architects and built by DPR Constuction, Inc., cost just under $9 million to build, and includes a visitors lounge, a concierge station, and two “collaboration stations” at each end of the floor that are designed to increase visibility of staff and facilitate communication.

“From the personal welcome upon arrival to the individual get well card delivered upon discharge, Specialty Surgical Care wraps each patient’s high tech health care in layers of medical caring and personal attention unique in the Valley,” said Michael Skehan, vice president of Clinical and Support Services at North Mountain Hospital.

We are excited to see the final result!
