When wrapping presents for the holidays it always nice to add a personal and unique touch. We interviewed talented life style expert, Jung Lee, to find out some tips and tricks for how to make your presents stick out from others under the tree.
Where and When to Find Reasonably Priced Gift Wrapping Supplies:
Lee says the best time to look for the best prices on wrapping paper is right after the holiday ends. This definitely takes some planning but if you go shopping a few days after the holidays most stores are trying to sell as much as the leftover paper as possible. This is a great way to snag beautiful paper that might normally be out of your price range. Lee also recommends selecting papers that have simple yet chic metallics and patterns because these prints will always be stylish and classic.
How to Make Your Present Stand out From Others:
Lee’s favorite way to really make her presents different from others is to add her own personal touch. Not only is this visually pleasing but adds a lovely personalized feel. She loves creating her own holiday tags for each gift with a special heart-felt message. Lee stated that one year she even added a picture of the recipient to the tag and on the back she wrote her own message to them. It is a great addition to any simple wrapping and really shows how much time you put into the whole gift.
You can also make your gifts original by adding different types of accents on top for decoration. Lee recommends unique touches like a piece of coral, sand dollar, or ornament on top to really pull the whole present together. Another great idea is using beautiful wrapping paper. Lee states that a map can be used as wrapping paper and adds a creative touch to your present.
When in doubt, put a bow on top of it. Lee says that every present should be finished with a bow or ribbon. She loves using wide ribbons so you can have a large bow on top. Using multiple types of ribbon will create layer and texture and is easy to do, but makes a huge difference.
Helpful Easy Hints and Tips
-In order to keep things simple, find wrapping paper for every occasion. A solid wrapping finished with a bow can truly work for any holiday and still looks elegant.
-A great way to wrap for adults is wrapping a present within another present. Lee states that when she is bringing a bottle of wine to a hostess she wraps the wine in a beautiful dish towel finished a bow. It is like giving the hostess two gifts in one and shows how much thought was behind it.
-When wrapping for kids it is always fun and entertaining to add different kinds of knick-knacks to the top. It keeps the kid intrigued with the present from the moment they lay eyes on it!
-One of Lee’s favorite looks is using plain white paper and finishing it with velvet ribbon. The present looks so luxurious and was incredibly easy to wrap.
