Following the second inning, the D-backs had a 2–0 lead, but lost all momentum when the Dodgers evened the game going into the fourth inning. From there it was all LA who took the 8–2 win.

The Diamondbacks finished last season 74–88, marking the third year in a row the team finishes with a losing record. Despite this, the D-backs improved by 22 wins from the previous season and the potential of a great team is building.

Arizona has a strong core of players led by second baseman Ketel Marte, first baseman Christian Walker and MLB No. 2 prospect Corbin Carroll in center field. Making his Diamondbacks debut, 23-year-old top-catching prospect Gabriel Moreno was acquired in an offseason trade from the Blue Jays for Daulton Varsho. Keep an eye out for Moreno and Carroll, both of whom are more than capable of becoming breakout stars.

The bullpen is beginning to blossom thanks to Zac Gallen, who received some Cy Young ballot votes over the offseason and is one of the best young pitchers in all of baseball. The D-backs also added Evan Longoria and Andrew Chafin to improve the worst bullpen in baseball last year.

The 2023 season is a chance for the young stars in the desert to shine as crucial players for the D-backs. This year promises to be thrilling for the Arizona Diamondbacks as a talented roster with a young core prepares for the 162-game season with the postseason in mind.

The perfect way to energize the fanbase, open play at Chase Field on April 6 by beating the LA Dodgers.
