The second night of the Fall 2014 Phoenix Fashion Week welcomed seven returning and new designers from Phoenix, Colorado and even fashion capitals like New York City. Flowy dresses, bold colors, feminine edge, fierce confidence and intricate feathered accessories by Olga M Designs walked down the catwalk at the show.

Whether she’s playing an elderly sloth in “Ice Age” or pulling from her own life experiences in stand-up, the well-loved actress and comedian Wanda Sykes continues to make us laugh. AFM was lucky enough to speak with Sykes, who proved that no matter what age you are (she recently turned 50), peeing your pants from laughter is always a good thing. Sykes will be coming to Phoenix Celebrity Theatre on Friday, Oct. 17 for her comedy tour.

Patrick Peterson’s Foundation for Success is launching its Pick Up a Book Program, which supports Children’s Literacy Development, at San Marcos Elementary School on Tues. Sept. 9.

The program is putting 60 local Phoenix schools to the test to see if each can read 100,000 minutes this fall. Students will record reading minutes online, and the school with the most combined minutes receives a Papa John’s pizza party with the athlete.
