Fox 10’s Emily Graham perfectly defines her style as “East Coast girl meets the desert, with a dash of glam and global influence.” Even with a ultra-demanding job at one of the top news stations in the Valley, Graham perceivers in Prabal Gurung and totes a Hermes Birkin. Graham thinks no one should be without a black tuxedo, pair of grey pumps and a go-to dress in their closet. I collect Graham’s thoughts on style and fashion.
If you had to wear one item of clothing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
All I need are some killer heels. The more outrageous the better!
If you could steal one person's wardrobe, who's would it be?
Hilary Rhoda for her party dresses and chic daytime pieces! She always nails it while looking effortless.
What is the crown jewel of your closet?
A Hermes Birkin that I received as a gift. It’s the one thing that is under lock and key!
If any, what advice would you give to others about fashion?
Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a [darn].
What article of clothing are you lusting for at the moment?
A tulle and silk dress by Prabal Gurung. It has these leather appliqués on the top that look like river rocks but they are edgy and so delicate.
What are six items of clothing no one should be without?
-A classic black blazer/tuxedo jacket.
-Platform pumps in either a grey or nude.
-A bright-colored cashmere wrap.
-Those jeans that you put on and feel like a bombshell.
-Your go-to dress. That one that flatters your body and can take you from day to night.
-One somewhat risqué piece. The piece that you’re afraid to buy because you have nowhere to wear it. (Mine was a lace top, feathered bottom Carolina Herrera dress that I have come to adore!)
What is the biggest mistake people make when it comes to fashion?
From my platform sneakers to the lime-green corduroy overalls I have many mistakes that my mom could blackmail me with but thankfully I’ve grown out of that stage! You’ll always end up looking like a fool if you follow your peers instead of following your spirit. Make your outfits your own even if the style doesn’t fly with your friends.
What trend do you love at the current moment?
I love that people are taking style cues from Princess Kate Middleton. She has such a timeless look that everyone can somehow incorporate into his or her wardrobe. Finally people understand that a classic trench, sophisticated wrap dress and tailored pieces are all necessities in your closet.
In history, fictional or non, what individual has the best style?
I love Claudia Schiffer’s style. She always keeps it classy but with a bit of flair.
Must-have beauty product?
Anything and everything from Philosophy. I’ve been using their ‘When Hope Is Not Enough’ for too many years to admit to!
Favorite local boutique, shop, store?
I love indie designers on Etsy and eBay but some of my best finds in the Valley come from second-hand stores. I love the vintage pieces from Antique Sugar (formerly Hollywood Regency) and Buffalo Exchange. And seriously what girl doesn’t love H&M?
