Joy Li’s newest collection began to take form on a trip to Seattle to visit her sister. Undoubtedly, Li became enamored with the scenery of the Northwest as her collection shows hues of dark blue, grey, black and the occasional shot of plum.

Lean fluid lines and perfectly placed details such as a zipper or a sleeve of sheer material are Li’s signature gesture. The jackets and outwear took center stage in this line; superbly sculptured stature and a design that is not over processed make them a highlight.

May it be one of her militant motorcycle jackets or calf-length coats in midnight blue, that are a season must owns. It is this well executed and thoughtful design that keeps Li and her business partner, Jean Bartolomei in a place of good business. “Joy and I make sure that the price point of the collection is reasonable,” Bartolomei says. Li’s clothes offer design with longevity and great taste that will carry on from season to season.

There is also talk of a creative partnership with local tastemaker and fashion heavyweight Duc Liao on a future collection. Which needless to say, we are anxiously awaiting to see the results of that combo.
