Bartenders — get those cocktail shakers out and get ready to rumble! On Tuesday, Aug. 29 Liberty Station American Tavern and Smokehouse at DC Ranch presents the 86’ed Cocktail Competition during which local cocktail creators will go head to head in three distinct rounds to determine just one winner who will receive prizes, bragging rights — and the chance to compete again!

Call for competitors is now open. Four contestants will be selected to face off in this “Chopped”-style competition during which they will be provided a mystery basket for each round (aperitif, entrée and dessert rounds) featuring ingredients they can use to make creative cocktails in just six minutes.

A panel will blind judge the cocktails based on taste, presentation and creativity. Sponsors include Lalo Tequila, Whistle Pig Whiskey, Fernet-Branca, Bacardi and Liquid Alchemist and brand representatives from these companies may serve as rotating guest judges.

The public is invited to watch the event go down live at Liberty Station and judging will be live streamed in the bar area. Guests of the event can also enjoy a drink ticket to redeem at the Fernet booth as well as a complimentary sample of a punch made by each contestant. Guests will be able to vote for their favorite punch concoction and the bar contestant that receives the most votes will receive a “get out of jail free” card, giving them a second chance at victory if they are voted to be “86’ed” in a round.

Winner of the 86’ed Cocktail Competition will receive a gift basket filled with prizes provided by sponsors as well as a $100 gift card to the soon-to-be-opened Poppy’s Office. Winner will also be automatically entered into a future 86’ed Cocktail Competition.
