Description

This month during the Scottsdale Gallery Association’s Gold Palette ArtWalk on Thursday, March 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Association and local art galleries with the Scottsdale Arts District — which resides along Main Street from Scottsdale Road to Goldwater Boulevard and north of Indian School on Marshall Way to 5th Avenue —honor Scottsdale’s rich Native culture and heritage through a night of art and entertainment.

“Scottsdale has such a complex and rich history and culture that makes it the vibrant art community today,” says Scottsdale Gallery Association President French Thompson. “As an Association and a Community, we are proud to recognize our native roots and share some interactive education about our Native artists through our Native Spirit ArtWalk.”

The Native Spirit Gold Palette ArtWalk is dedicated to recognizing Scottdale’s rich native culture and history with activities, entertainment and exhibits that showcase the best of the City’s “Native Spirit.” Participating galleries throughout the Scottsdale Arts District include:

Amery Bohling Fine Art 7100 E. Main St. The gallery will be featuring an impressive estate collection discovered in the remote mountain town of Crown King, Arizona that includes select pieces of Native American jewelry and more.

Fine Art of Southwest Style 7100 Main St., Ste. B To coincide with the Native Spirit ArtWalk, the gallery is hosting the Thom Ross – Painter of Legends Event, a must see for all baseball — and Thom Ross — fans. During the Native Spirit ArtWalk and through Spring Training season, the gallery will present Ross’ latest series of work featuring the Black Sox.

On the Edge Gallery 7077 E. Main St., #1

During the Native Spirit ArtWalk, On the Edge features two of the Gallery’s most revered artists, Lori Myers and Gabe Salcido, who will be displaying their creations inspired by native traditions. Lori’s paintings are a reflection of her passion for travel, the desert southwest and love of color. Gabe’s metal works consist of simple lines and basic shapes along with a collage of cultural influences.

River Trading Co.

7033 E. Main St. During the ArtWalk, River Trading is showcasing 12 award-winning Indian artists and a Hopi drum circle, and will have authentic Indian fry bread tacos available for purchase.
