Description

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix celebrates Hispanic heritage during Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 through October 15, 2019. Programs and events planned during this time period will bring a taste of Latino activities and culture to the Museum for visitors to enjoy.

Festivities during this month-long celebration include:

September 17 - September 22| 9am to 4pm

PAPEL PICADO  – This colorful Art Studio craft gives visitors the opportunity to make their own papel picado (“perforated paper”) using tissue paper and scissors.

September 14 - September 27 | Times Vary

QUESO BLANCO QUESADILLAS – Visitors are encouraged to join us in the KIDchen where we’ll make quesadillas with fresh-made tortillas and traditional Mexican cheeses.

October 2 & 3, October 14 & 15 | Times Vary

TIN ETCHING ART – Children and their adults can learn about this pre-Colombian art technique used in murals, textiles and pottery. We’ll use similar techniques to create a simple etching on tin foil on which visitors will be able to add decorative elements.

October 4 & 11 | 9:30am to 10:15am

MUSIC TOGETHER CON ESPAÑOL DEMO – For babies through age five (along with the grown-ups who love them) Music Together con Español is a bilingual English/Spanish music and movement experience which is fun for families with or without Spanish speaking experience.

Sunday, October 13 | 11:30am – Noon

FIESTA MEXICANA DANCE COMPANY – Experience the beauty and joy of traditional folk dances from Mexico, Central America and South America. Fiesta Mexicana Dance company is a non-profit organization and serves as the official folkloric group for the City of Phoenix.

The above programs are FREE with paid Museum admission of $14.95 per person. Members and children under the age of 1 are free.
