Surviving a scorching Phoenix summer involves three simple things: staying indoors, blasting air conditioning and drinking crisp, cold beers whenever possible.

Luckily, beer connoisseurs can beat the heat while sampling some of the area’s best, rarest and most unconventional craft brews at the sixth annual Real, Wild & Woody indoor beer festival.

The festivities, presented by the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild, will take place from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at the Phoenix Convention Center. General Admission tickets are $60 presale, and available for purchase now by patrons 21 and over. An $80 VIP ticket, new for 2019, will allow ticket holders entry at 1 p.m., and includes an optional, beer-driven multi-course meal for an additional $20. Ticket prices increase by $20 at all levels on the day of the event.

More than 40 of Arizona's own outstanding breweries will be featured, alongside several dozen noteworthy breweries from neighboring states. Each establishment will be pouring samples of their best, most unique “real, wild or woody” creations.

Attendees of the festival will enjoy up to 20 samples of cask-conditioned ales (aka Real), beers featuring a wild strain of yeast during the fermenting process (aka Wild) or barrel-aged (aka Woody) brews. In addition, renowned local restaurants will offer complimentary small bites. There will also be interactive games to enjoy, an indoor rock-wall and live music from local bands to enhance the overall festival-going experience.

“This year, I am especially thrilled to be introducing the VIP experience,” said Rob Fullmer, Executive Director of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild. “It’s going to be a tremendous opportunity for our most fervent fans to have first, full access to the entire venue, an hour before we open to the public. Along with the exclusive access, there is a VIP meal option that will provide attendees with a three-taco meal (with vegetarian options) and a dessert. We’ll also be featuring distilled products from some of our breweries exclusively in the VIP area.”

The latest trends in beer will be showcased throughout the day for festival attendees, including rich, unique flavor combinations and never-before-sipped brews. Samples will include 350 beers from top Arizona brewers like Dragoon Brewing Company, Grand Canyon Brewery, Mother Road Brewing Company, and Santan Brewing Company, in addition to many others. The event is also a launching point for new breweries that many will not be as familiar with, including Flying Bassett, Desert Monks and Walter Station.
