Description

Art is one of the sincerest forms of self-expression, and the talented youth of one•n•ten will soon join forces with special guest Carol Quijada as they present their latest works to the public.

The nonprofit’s First Friday Bazaar is set for 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, April 5 at one•n•ten’s Downtown Phoenix Youth Center located at 1011 N Central Ave., with the event featuring works from the youth who the organization serves alongside oil paintings and multimedia artwork for sale by special guest artist Carol Quijada.

Quijada, a visual artist who specializes in drawings, paintings and other mixed media, created the line of oil paintings she’ll display exclusively for this purpose and in the spirit of one•n•ten, with each of the paintings depicting 10 different objects that initially look similar, but, upon closer inspection, have clear distinctions. In creating them, she challenges the assumptions of labels and identifiers, and she’ll donate a portion of the proceeds raised through her sales to one•n•ten, where it will help finance the programs, camps, resources and opportunities the organization offers Valley LGBTQ youth.

Those looking to display their work at one•n•ten’s upcoming First Friday Bazaar may do so regardless of whether they have an existing affiliation with the organization. Artists should submit a clear image or document depicting the art they’d like to showcase to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
