Chances are, those New Year resolutions are long broken by the time mid-February rolls around, meaning there’s no better time to attend the East Valley’s ode to all things ooey, gooey, syrupy and sweet.

Sweets Festival is set for 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Gilbert’s Civic Center Park (50 E Civic Center Drive), giving sweets fans of all ages a five-hour window in which to consume massive amounts of cookies, cakes, candies, donuts and other sweet treats, guilt-free. Expect the unexpected with a variety of fun concoctions from various local restaurants and vendors. It is your own Candyland game come to life.

Revelers can swing by the Cookie Castle, the Cupcake Commons or the Gummy Gulch for a taste of what lies inside, or work their way up the Chocolate Mountain or through the Lollipop Woods on the hunt for even more candy-coated surprises. Over-21 attendees can sip on Sweet Cocktail Concoctions throughout the festivities while multiple kids zones, a sweet treat scavenger hunt, a s’mores making station and crafts for the little ones add icing on the cake.

The Family Rocks entertainment zone will be rocking with performances by teenage bands across the state. School of Rock will be putting together a variety of local bands to entertain crowds with “sweet” tunes as they taste their way through the festival.

So, make a date now to take the entire family – and a sweet tooth – to the Sweets Festival this February.
