Thunderbird Artists, award-winning producer of fine art and wine events in the Southwest, is excited to announce mixed-media artist, Malen Pierson, as featured artist for the 25^th Annual Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival, January 19^th, 20^th & 21^st, 2018.

The multi-talented Malen Pierson can best be described as a folk artist, a collector of found objects and a true innovator when it comes to the integration of old tools, farm equipment, antiquities and all forms of metal. Only a true artist has the creative vision to see what discarded items can become and create a masterpiece, where most see chaos. Malen’s artistic success is due to his truly unique welding and assemblage process. His style incorporates a dense composition of various metals and found objects and transforms them into full sized horses, moose, goats, buffalo, herons and other farm animal sculptures.

In addition to Malen’s creations, the event hosts the works of more than 150 other juried fine artists; displaying original paintings, spectacular small, medium and life-size bronzes, radiant glass sculptures, metal creations and fabulous batiks. There is also hand thrown clay, hand woven baskets, wood works, one of a kind jewelry, breathtaking photography and mixed media pieces.

Live music is a mainstay at the Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival and Thunderbird Artists is happy to announce a few of the participating musicians will include chapman stick extraordinaire, Bob Culbertson, guitarist, Chuck Hall and Vibhas Kendzia. Vibhas plays a variety of instruments and musical styles, but his specialty is his hauntingly beautiful melodies on the Indian Flute.

Thunderbird Artists knows how important it is to be involved in the community and is dedicated to partnering with a non-profit organization for each of the events. This event marks the 25^th Anniversary of the partnership between Thunderbird Artists, the Carefree/Cave Creek Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Carefree. Through hard work, dedication and unwavering standards, together we have created three first-class events in Carefree every year, that have stood the test of time. Thunderbird Artists believes in giving back and the Chamber receives 25% of admission and wine sales from each event.  The Town of Carefree also receives 25% of every admission sale.

Don’t miss this award-winning festival, the Town of Carefree’s ‘Signature Event’, which highlights the artistic works of more than 150 juried fine artists, live music, appetizing food, tempting chocolates and unparalleled wine tasting.  It takes place in downtown Carefree, on Ho Hum & Easy Streets. Hours are 10am to 5pm each day.  Admission is $3.00 and parking is free all weekend. A can’t miss event!
