Description

Talking about puberty and the changes that come along with it – including hormonal shifts and physical changes to your body – can be challenging and uncomfortable for adolescents. That's why Mountain Vista Medical Center offers a periodic series of events led by medical professionals to help parents and adolescents get answers to their questions in a comfortable and informal setting.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, Benjamin Ihms, D.O., a family medicine physician, will hold a free class called “Guy Talk,” for boys ages 9 to 14, about body awareness, puberty and positive self-esteem.

The class, which is open to the public, will provide an overview of what to expect during puberty, offer tips on how boys can take care of themselves as their bodies change, discuss sex and girls, address how smart devices and social media can pose problems for kids during puberty, and answer questions.

The event will be on Tuesday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mountain Vista Medical Center, 1301 S. Crismon Rd., Mesa, AZ 85209.

Attendees should park and enter through the Outpatient Entrance, which is located on the east side of the hospital, and proceed to classrooms on the second floor through the double doors

There are a limited number of seats available for this free class. To register, visit www.mvmedicalcenter.com or call 1-877-924-WELL (9355).

This class offers a safe place for boys to learn about the maturing process and ask questions about their bodies and sex that they might be too embarrassed to ask at home or school.
