While Sonoita may not be what comes to mind when you think vineyards and wine tasting, it should be. Sonoita has some of the best-in-the-West wineries and produces distinctive wines that offer a one-of-a-kind Arizona tasting experience.

Each winery is spread out, offering breathtaking views of Southern Arizona. Sonoita Vineyards, the oldest winery in Arizona, produces more than 10,000 gallons of wine per year. Kief-Joshua Vineyards has one of the most beautiful tasting rooms around. And, the Village of Elgin Winery has a peacock that greets you at the door.

Sonoita should be a stop for any wine drinker, connoisseur, and everything in between. The small town feel resonates throughout the community – with the winemaker themselves often pouring the wine! Each winery sits on vast land, and offers something for every taste. Not sure what varietal of wine you would like? No worries – they will suggest one that suits you. Not sure if you prefer dry or sweet? Don’t fret, they will guide you. Think you hate reds? Think again! Every single person working in these tasting rooms will be there to walk you through the wine tasting experience.

Head down south and make it a weekend of wineries, and stay at one of the historic hotels. The Sonoita Inn offers a ranch-style bed and breakfast feel, with the warm welcoming as if you were staying with family.

The wines and experiences that Sonoita offers are comparable to none – it is a must do for all Arizonans, and even those who are just looking for a wild-west wine-filled weekend.
