HomeTucsonTravel & Leisure › See Tucson From a New Height

If you’ve lived in Tucson for a while, you already know all the dining hotspots, premium shopping venues and happening nightlife. For those looking to view Tucson from a different perspective, simply look to the skies.

I’ve always been fascinated by airplanes. Aside from the fact that I’ve traveled quite a bit and seen my share of safety briefings, I get anxiously excited when making my way through any airport terminal. It must be the kid in me that thrills to feel my stomach against my spine on takeoff and I know many frequent travelers feel the same (even if they don’t care to admit it).

Tucsonans and visitors to the region can now experience this same thrill with one minor difference: they’ll be in the cockpit.

Tucson Aeroservice Center, Inc., based at Marana Regional Airport, offers shutterbugs, wannabe pilots, and the casual adventurer flights over Tucson. The flights offer passengers a chance to peruse Old Pueblo from a vantage point high above the city. In addition, the Tucson Aeroservice Center offers a menu of flight options for those desiring to gain a long-term flight education.

Due to the popular request of "plane spotting missions" most tours cover the Pinal Air Park, the line at Evergreen Maintenance Center, and the Boneyard (AMARG) at Pima Air and Space Museum. But, passengers can request just about any route and can even take control of the aircraft.

The company says that most shutterbugs and plane spotters prefer a tour in the light Sport Remos (a two-seater) with the doors off for optimum photo opportunities.

For lovers of luxury, a Cessna 172 and a Cessna 182 are also available to offer a more glamorous ride and room for three to four adults.

Tucson Aeroservice Center is a family-owned corporation that has been offering lessons and Discovery Flights in Tucson for over 15 years. Flights are $150/hour and range from one to four hours. The company offers several friendly flight instructors to take the journey with you.
