Typical Desert Southwest restaurants don’t often offer an impressive library of over 100 varieties of spirits, along with house cocktails infused with gin, rum, brandy, and cognac.  Plus, his dishes surely stand out, especially the hors d'oeuvres…you MUST taste the pickled truffle cauliflower.

Also, it’s a totally savvy atmosphere…the inside is chic orange and wood, and the outside area boasts a hot pink painted fireplace.

For dinner, the fiancé opted for the ultimate of burgers. The meat is grinded to perfection, truly melting in your mouth, and it’s paired with the perfect amount of maple bourbon glazed cipollini (little onions), bleu cheese, bacon and foie gras.  He said it was one of the best burgers he’s ever had—a bold statement from the food-loving fiancé.

I got the black bean and lentil burger topped with guacamole (yum!).  But the best part of all, at least in my opinion, were the duck fat French fries…yes, they’re fried in duck fat.  While this sounds completely unhealthy, high in calories, and almost unappetizing, the fries were amazing, especially dipped in the warm cheddar sauce.  And of course, dinner is NEVER complete without dessert.  Your mouth will water: Irish car bomb milkshakes with frosted brownie pieces.  OMG, waitress Ashley, you were SO right—the shakes are amazing.

In December, Garces will open Old Town Whiskey’s neighboring restaurant, Distrito, also located in the Saguaro Hotel.  That’s where you can fill up on innovative Mexican BBQ cuisine.  For more information on AZ’s new hot spots, call (480) 970-4444.
