We spent the following couple of days getting our feet wet in the water and dining at only the finest of M.V. restaurants. On the menu, a bunch of lobster, scallops, shrimp, and oysters galore at places like The Sweet Life Café and L’etoile. And even one night we ditched donuts for ice cream at Mad Martha’s.
We also made our way to Vineyard Haven—home of the famous Black Dog Bar. (When you go to M.V., you’ll notice just about everyone sporting their black dog gear…it’s an island staple.)
Really, the remainder of the trip included bonding over porch-front drinks and playing with the BF’s nieces and nephews. They could roam around our grassy front yard worry-free—we surely endured their youthful spirit soaking in the M.V. sun.
Before departing our now-beloved island, we made our way through The Campground, a neighborhood of cottage-like Victorian houses complete with specific themes. Definitely add it to your to-do list if you ever venture to The Vineyard.
The New England attraction is quite an escape from the Desert Southwest. You’ll feel so far away from everything—the epitome of what a summer vacay should be. Yes, getting (and staying!) in M.V. is an elite expense, but the experience is one you’ll undoubtedly treasure.
Now that we’re back in AZ, we can only dream of Back Door Donuts and our blue house with the porch—memories of Martha’s Vineyard. Until next year.
A special thanks to the BF’s family for everything…
