When the seasons change, I go all out updating decor in our kitchen and living room, but often neglect our bedroom. Truth be told, I've let our bedroom slide- we've lived in this house for a few years now and our bedroom still lacks pictures on the walls and matching furniture. So this fall, I'm making it a goal to prioritize our bedroom, or at least our BED, making it reflect the changing of seasons. Surely my husband and I deserve an updated look and feel to our room, right?

And so, I turned to the experts at byourbed.com for bedding insight trending this fall.

The first, Pin Tuck Comforters. Pin Tuck, sometimes referred to as Pinch Pleat-style comforters create a stylistic dimension that livens up a room with ease.

Next, when it comes to color, you apparently can't go wrong with grey. A decade ago, the trend was dark brown, followed by animal prints. Now, the neutral gray tone has become the must-have color, whether it be dark or light shades.

Texture is also really hot- bedding that offers something different to the eye has been on the rise. This, along with comfort (DUH!). Yes, we want our bedding to look good, but more so, feel good. Byourbed.com has really cool Bare Bottom® Sheets and Comforters that got their name from customers raving optimal comfort from sleeping in the nude. Tempted?

Another thing bedding-shoppers should look for is material; what's your blanket really made of? Is the cotton thread count really 300TC? Is the material that’s listed as all cotton, actually 100% cotton? To crosscheck legitimacy, Byourbed provides Comfort Proof Tested Results. Reports detail the prodcut's material make-up, weight, thread count, and more.

To "dress" your bed, do anything oversized. Think about it... Queen bed owners often buy King Comforters to ensure that nice complete look to their bedroom. That's why it's smart to shop comforters that are purposely made bigger to add a more affluent look to any given bed.

  For example:

  • A Standard Comforter size is 86" x 86"
  • Byourbed Queen/Queen XL Comforter size is 94" x 98"

And finally, think microfiber. As we head into 2018, Microfiber has fully emerged as a leading material in comforters and sheets. High quality microfiber offers a thickness and softness that is truly unbeatable.
