Rachel Roland is a mom on a mission - exploring beautiful Arizona (and beyond!) with her two little companions, Jeremiah and Sarah, in search of the best restaurants, attractions, and products for you and your children. See what she has in store for your family today!

Our family is on vacation!  We're currently visiting the gorgeous (and cool) state of Washington, and while we're here, I'm exploring some of the great things Seattle has to offer for families.  I was thrilled when we had the chance to visit the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, where you can spend the day learning about science, nature, math, and more!

We heard there was an interactive butterfly exhibit, where you can walk through a room filled with beautiful and exotic butterflies.  Sarah and Jeremiah were so excited and so hopeful that one might land on them.  Sadly, it didn't happen, but we did witness a few people with butterfly passengers - one girl even had one land on her face!  (That might have even scared me a bit, to be honest!)  But it was a beautiful room, filled with colorful butterflies flitting from tree to tree and plant to plant.  I highly recommend visiting this part of the museum!

The day was warm (for Seattle, of course) and we headed outside to the square, where there are various interactive exhibits.  This hamster wheel was surprisingly hard to turn - well, I was wearing flip flops - but it was hilarious to try and watch other people try it out, too!

One aspect I found so appealing about the Pacific Science Center was that almost everything was meant to be touched, played with, explored, or used by the visitors.  It was almost like a children's museum in that way - and it meant Jeremiah and Sarah (as well as my nephew, Caleb) could freely explore without worrying about breaking something or getting in trouble.  As you can see, Sarah found this funhouse mirror absolutely hilarious - and so did we!

The Pacific Science Center is definitely an all day trip, so plan accordingly.  They have two IMAX theaters showing both educational and Hollywood movies, as well as a planetarium and different science shows throughout the day.

If you are at all interested in ancient Egypt, then you must visit the Pacific Science Center, as it is the last stop in America - EVER - for the Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs.  The exhibit runs through January 6th, so plan your trip now.  As I mentioned, this exclusive peek into Egyptian history will not be returning to the United States after it's run at the Pacific Science Center.

Admission for exhibits only costs $16 for adults, $14 for seniors (65+), $11 for youth (6-15), $9 for kids (3-5) and children 2 and under are free.  Parking around the Pacific Science Center all needs to be paid for, and it ranges - you can probably park all day for around $10. If you're in the Seattle area this summer, definitely check it out!
