Description

Dance With Me – A Ballet Arizona Event

Fundraising Gala Returns to the Phoenix Art Museum

Plans are in the works for Ballet Arizona’s Dance With Me Gala. The event is one of the nonprofit’s largest fundraisers of the season and dedicated to raising money for Ballet Arizona education and community outreach programs. Themed as Dance With Me, the night will include performances from Ballet Arizona. Artistic Director, Ib Andersen and School of Ballet Arizona Director, Carlos Valcarcel are collaborating on a performance that will show the audience the journey of a prima ballerina, or one who is considered the lead and the most exceptional dancer in their generation.

“We are proud to return to the Phoenix Art Museum to present our annual Dance With Me, Ballet Arizona Gala,” said Sharron Lewis, chair for the 2017 fundraiser. “This event not only benefits the many educational and community outreach programs that the ballet offers, but also allows us to honor Carol and Randy Schilling, two individuals that have made the ballet the extraordinary, world-class company it is today.”

About Ballet Arizona

Ballet Arizona, in its 31st season, is dedicated to preserving and celebrating classical dance while creating new and innovative works. Under the artistic direction of internationally acclaimed choreographer Ib Andersen - a former Principal Dancer with The New York City Ballet and The Royal Danish Ballet - Ballet Arizona follows his lead to the future of dance in Arizona. The School of Ballet Arizona, under the direction of Carlos Valcárcel, promotes access to the art form of ballet through dance education, with a focus on excellence in the form, directing each student to a life-long love of dance. Following this vision, Ballet Arizona connects to more than 35,000 children and families every year through its free and low cost outreach programs.
