The Make-A-Wish Foundation began in Arizona in 1980 with a young boy?s dream of becoming a police officer and is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world. Granting wishes provides no miracle cure, but it can be a rallying point and one that makes a difference in the course of an illness. Since its founding, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish? experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona grants 250 wishes annually, with an average cost of $7,500 to fulfill a wish.
