Royal Palms Resort and Spa

This Mediterranean-inspired hideaway is nestled at the base of picturesque Camelback Mountain. Arizona’s only resort named on Travel + Leisure’s “Top 100 Hotels in the World” is a tranquil escape offering 119-beautifully decorated guest rooms, casitas and villas, including the Montavista Collection—a select group of suites with panoramic mountain views and Alvadora Spa terraces. The resort is affixed to award-winning T. Cook’s Restaurant & Lounge, where guests can sample savory culinary cuisine at Phoenix’s number one restaurant of 2007 (awarded by Zagat Survey) before hitting Old Town Scottsdale.

I love eating at T. Cook's and then walking around the pretty garden grounds. It's one of the places I love to take my in-laws when they are in town, since it's a cozy place to catch up and enjoy great food and wine.
The hotel itself is also quaint and cozy, with a small, private reception area and top notch staff. Personally, my type of luxury is found in small, elegant places, not big oversized spaces, so Royal Palms is really my style. If you like boutique properties, this one if for you. And you really can't beat the central location if you are an out of towner.
