The Boulders used to be one of the Valley's most-luxurious properties, but to me, it's getting old. I know a renovation has been in the works for a long time, and it needs it. The restaurant, rooms and lobby just need a little sprucing up.
The Golden Door Spa, however, remains tops in the spa world, and the Boulders's two golf courses are also in no need of repair. They are two of Arizona's most challenging public desert courses and all golfers should try a round there.
I was at a wedding at the Boulders last year and it was very nice, but with so many amazing resorts in town, it's hard to compete. If you want a very out-of-the-way authentic desert location, though, it's a pretty good choice.
