Kief is surely skilled at his delectable craft; in fact, he decided his professional fate after creating a lemon-based wine from a tree in his backyard.  According to taste-testers, it was so delicious that plans to open a vineyard were simply inevitable.

In 2002, he persuaded his parents it was time for a change of scenery, so the family sold their Valley house and purchased the Senoita property.  He then ventured down under to pursue Viticulture studies in Australia, where he learned the ins and outs of the wine biz.

But keep in mind, vino doesn’t happen overnight.

The family of four first planted in 2005 and welcomed their first harvest a couple years later.  Now, you can sample their creations every day but Christmas—that’s because the tasting room is open nearly every day of the year.

However, maximize your wine-tasting experience at the Fourth Annual Kief-Joshua Vineyards Festival April 16th and 17th, 2011.

For a $10 entry fee, you’ll establish a healthy buzz sampling newly released blends like the 2009 Tempranillo.  Between an array of savory grub, live music and booze, your body will feel at ease, making for a perfectly refreshing start to spring.

Cheers.
