Desert Stages Theatre (DST) announces the debut of “Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks” on Friday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m.

DST will be performing “Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks,” directed by Joy Bingham Strimple. “Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks” follows the relationship between the aged Lily, played by Barbara McBain and her acerbic dance instructor Michael, played by Roger Prenger. Tension between the gay dance instructor and the wife of a Southern Baptist minister rises, until they begin to establish a profound compatibility as they swing dance, tango, foxtrot, and cha-cha. During Lily’s last dance lessons, she reveals to Michael a tightly-kept secret and Michael shares his greatest gifts--loyalty and compassion. The two transcend fear and mortality while the sun sets on their last dance.

“Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks” will have a six-week run starting Friday, January 18 through Sunday, March 8, with performances every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. For more information about performance dates and times please visit DesertStages.org.
