Q: I’ve decided to get breast implants.  How do I choose the size or CC’s?

A:  Great question. Choosing the ideal size of the implant in CC’s but also in width, height, and projection is one of the most important parts of breast augmentation.  Bringing in photos that allow you to communicate what you would like to achieve may be helpful.  Often, a range of implants can be estimated from the amount of increase in cup size desired and the patients’ height.  I also use sizers at the preop meeting.  There as specially made silicone sizers that allow you to see how you would look with a certain volume of implant.  The combination of these two methods really helps to avoid choosing an implant that is too small or too big for what you would like to achieve.

Q:  Will a rhinoplasty correct my nose shape?  I have a hump in the middle and the tip points down.

A:  Yes, a rhinoplasty can correct the shape of your nose.  There are a variety of changes that can be addressed with a rhinoplasty or nose job procedure.  The key will be to understand what it is that you would like to change and to accomplish this while maintaining both a natural appearance as well as a functionally sound nose (breathing well).  The cartilage of the nose can be shaped to reduce the hump with something called a dorsal reduction and the tip can be improved in a variety of ways including suturing the tip cartilages or placing a cartilage graft to support the nose tip location.

Q: I’m done having kids and would like a mommy makeover.  How much does this cost?

A:  A mommy makeover is a term that is used to describe a combination of procedures designed to rejuvenate the breasts and body after having children.  Any combination of procedures can be part of a mommy makeover and usually a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and some combination of breast augmentation and/or lift is often the case.  Depending on the type of tummy tuck and the type of breast procedure the cost of a mommy makeover can vary greatly from around 7,000 to 20 or 25, 000.  I recommend seeking consultation with board certified plastic surgeons in your community whose before and after result you like.
