It’s not every day that you can find a job or internship where you actually have fun. Well I guess I can say I defied the odds because I happen to intern at a place where not only do I have fun, but they are my second family. Now you might be pondering to yourself, what is this amazing work place? Well, it’s none other than the syndicated Johnjay and Rich Morning Show!

A typical day at the Johnjay and Rich studios starts around 6 a.m. for me. Yes it is early, but hey Johnjay and Rich and the producers all have to be there by 5 a.m., so I consider myself lucky. The first task of the day is to gather 100 photos for Kyle’s Daily GBG. This is by far the most tedious thing that they have us interns do here, but after awhile you get pretty quick at it. After GBG is done that is when all the jokes, shenanigans and fun begin!

Executive Producer Bill is huge on creating videos for the Johnjay and Rich website, so needless to say we like to come up with crazy and funny ideas to film. For example on co-workers birthdays or just for fun, we like to sneak up on them while they are hard at work and annihilate them with pounds of silly string. We also just did an “Intern Spelling Bee” where you will see that being a journalism student doesn’t mean you know how to spell. Another video that we film every week is called Bad Comedy Guy. Just from reading the title, I think you can get a good hint of what the videos are about. Producer Bill picks a place, and then goes there and randomly starts telling the worst jokes you can possibly think of! He has gone to places such as an Arizona State library, a McDonalds drive-thru and the Chinese Cultural Center in Phoenix. It’s always fun to do this because you get to see people just blankly stare at Producer Bill while all of us interns are in the background cracking up. I sometimes get the feeling that people find us weird… Oh and probably one of the best videos we made is when Producer Bill and Audio Producer Joey re-made the Super Bowl Doritos Commercial, it was a classic.
