EXTRA EXTRA!

The down-home town of Gila Bend finds itself in competition with glitzy Scottsdale for a royal guest, Prince Harry of Britain's House of Windsor.

The prince, serving with the Royal Air Force, is splitting time between California and Arizona as he trains on the Apache attack helicopter. That includes visits to Gila Bend Air Force Auxiliary Field.

Gila Bend residents are hoping Harry will visit their town. And organizers of a Scottsdale polo event are hoping he will take part in their tournament.

The Polo Party: Horses & Horsepower has sent an invitation to the third in line to the British crown, who's an avid polo player. A spokeswoman for the event says military officials have received and acknowledged the invitation, but there is no confirmation Harry will attend.

Harry's older brother, Prince William, played in a charity match in Santa Barbara, Calif., in July while visiting with his new bride, Kate.

Harry also is known to enjoy nightclubbing, so Scottsdale's glitzy club scene may prove tempting.

The polo tournament, which also will feature a display of vintage and exotic automobiles, takes place Nov. 5 at Westworld Equestrian Center. Details:www.thepoloparty.com.
