Family-owned and -operated The Cove Trattoria in Scottsdale offers authentic Italian fare in a setting that is young and contemporary. The restaurant offers a mixture of sleek high-top and traditional tables, in addition to a large bar area. The real show-stopper is, though, The Cove Trattoria’s good-looking umbrella-topped patio, which is sure to get plenty of play this fall season.
For starters, the calamari is a great way to get meal going. The calamari is flavorful and plentiful, situated on top of a bed of greens, artichokes, tomatoes and other fresh veggies. As an Italian restaurant, it would be criminal not to sample a pasta plate. The salmon primavera features a hearty piece of salmon, heaps of veggies (yellow squash, broccoli, zucchini, red peppers, carrots, spinach and more) and lightly sauced linguine. Even though the primavera is a pasta plate, it feels light and healthy.
The Cove Trattoria’s pizza lineup is also impressive. The Pizza Rustica is unique offering of goat cheese, portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach, caramelized onion and mozzarella. The goat cheese is delicate and creamy while the red peppers provides a bit of sweetness. The Piccante is the ultimate pie for meat lovers. Each slice is loaded with flavorful sweet Italian sausage and pepperoni. Another pizza not to miss? The Cove Trattoria’s heaven-sent Nutella pizza. The warm and crispy pizza dough is crowned with sweet Nutella, sliced almonds and a cloud of whipped cream. They say the holiday season is the time to indulge, right? Well, the Nutella pizza is a tasty way to go about it. www.thecovescottsdale.com.
