What inspired you to take part in the Taste of the NFL’s Party with a Purpose? The cause, plain and simple. I’ve always enjoyed working with non-profit groups in the Houston-area. Taste of the NFL gives me an opportunity to represent my town, raise money for the Houston Food Bank, and make a positive impact on my community.
Any hints as to what you’ll be dishing up at the party? Something that definitely represents the restaurant I recently opened here in Houston, Ruggles Black. A Paleo dish for sure, sprinkled with bold Indian/Asian fusion flavors.
Say you’re hosting a Super Bowl party. What dish do you serve to guests? Paleo Buffalo Wings and Paleo Angry Shrimp
Have you always had a passion for the culinary arts? How did you get your start? I had a dishwasher job at the age of 15 at The Sir Walter Raleigh Inn in Maryland and I’ve been hooked ever since.
What do you love most about what you do? The customers. I have developed a loyal fan base in Houston over the years and I’m grateful for every single one of them.
What are your goals for the coming year? To put my new restaurant Ruggles Black on the Paleo Culinary Map.
What food bank are you representing? The Houston Food Bank
And a few fun faves…
Favorite Super Bowl memory: Chefs party at Ruggles Grill for Super Bowl XXXVIII
Favorite sports-watching snack: Fresh tuna sashimi
Favorite cocktail to whip up for Super Bowl guests: Margarita
