Name: Kisha Gulley
Title: I am the motherboard (LoveCraft Country anyone?)
City you live in: Ahwatukee
A typical day in my life includes… working out, water, champs, parenting, wife-ing, minding my business. (not necessarily in that order! lol)
I was born… to be amazing!
My favorite thing about Arizona… the amazing people I’ve met. We have been able to get so much help and resources for our son.
I’m listening to… LISTEN! We love music over here! You are not ready for our playlist! LOL.
Simply Red, Hall & Oates, Billy Ocean, Phil Collins, DJ Quik, 2 Pac, Popcaan, Bad Bunny, Lisa Lisa, Cardi B. If you love music come sit with us.
My family… is pretty awesome.
If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be… Beyonce (cause YASSSSS).
One thing I cannot live without… my husband and kids.
When I was younger, I wanted to be… I’m going to be honest, I barely remember. Childhood trauma is real.
I’m inspired by… the people around me who speak out and stand up for injustices. Even if it is uncomfortable.
The one person who motivates me is… My husband. He sees the good in all people and things. He has a good spirit and a good heart. He holds me accountable. He pushes me.
If I could change anything in the world, it would be… This is so heavy. Because there is so much wrong with the world today. But some people aren’t ready for this conversation… (insert kermit the frog drinking tea emoji.)
The perfect day would be… A day I can turn on the tv and not see one of my people getting murdered. (oh you thought I wasn’t gonna go there?)
My first job was… at Auntie Anne’s pretzel company.
My favorite escape… anywhere with my hubby and kids (oh and champs, champs and food)
My life… is so unpredictable.
I’m currently working on… slaying the game.
Always… do what’s right. Even if no one else understands.
Never… forget to put yourself first every now and then.
Favorite Quote… “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” and “Pimpin ain’t easy.”
Biggest Dream… raise healthy happy world citizens.
My Pet Peeve(s)… Racists. I can’t stand a racist person.
More About Kisha Gulley:
I’m an Afro-Latina, born in Panama but I grew up in Little Rock, AR. I was a flight attendant for 10 years. I met my husband at work (cliché I know) he’s a pilot. We have two sons, our oldest was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two. I’ve always wanted to write a book.
However, I kept talking myself out of it and never started. So after I had our first son I started journaling. It was mainly as a creative outlet because I was dealing with A LOT!
Emotionally, physically, and mentally. But my self-care was suffering, and there were some days I wondered if I would make it. I knew I couldn’t be the only one. From that came The Kisha Project.
I started blogging and sharing our journey. However, over the years it has evolved into so much more. On my platforms, I’ve been able to talk about social issues, my culture, fashion. I’ve even been able to do some acting and modeling!
