Trendsetter to Know: Jonathan Negretti

Name: Jonathan Negretti

Age: 42

Title: Principal at Negretti Law

Married/Single: Married

Kids: Yes, two.

City you live in: Phoenix (Arcadia neighborhood)

A typical day in my life includes…

getting up at 4:15am to train. I typically put in two hours of mobility, strength and endurance training each day. By 8am I am answering emails and making phone calls. In addition to guiding and developing the attorneys at Negretti & Associates, my primary responsibility is new client acquisition. At night, I enjoy cooking with my wife and watching the newest drama on TV.

I was born…

Far Rockaway, New York.

My favorite thing about Arizona…

the sunsets. We probably have the best sunsets in the country.

I’m listening to…

a podcast by Seth Godin. Actually, I just finished that up. It was his series called Start Up School.  It’s a great lesson for anyone who owns a business.

My family…

is the most important thing in my life. Everything I do is for the benefit of my family. My wife is my very best friend and my partner in crime. We don’t really commit crimes together, but if we did, she would be the Bonnie to my Clyde.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

Jesus. I know that sounds like a copout answer, but how great would it be to break bread with Jesus?

One thing I cannot live without…my Chapstick. It isn’t my phone, but take away my Chapstick and we might fight.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

an advertising executive. I used to watch Who’s the Boss and Angela Bower worked in advertising and I thought it sounded cool.

I’m inspired by…

people that take risks. People that push themselves. People that get uncomfortable on a continual basis.

The one person who motivates me is…

my wife. She has no quit in her. She works out all the time. She has excelled in her career. She takes care of our home and is an amazing cook. She is a great step-mom to our kids and still finds time to make me feel loved. I don’t know how she does it.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

gun violence. I don’t protest to have the answer to this issue, but it makes me sad that people feel so unwanted or so disconnected that they think that mass destruction is the answer.

The perfect day would be…

not to unlike how I currently spend my days. I work with some fantastic people. I really enjoy the work that we do. I mean, if I were being picky, I would love to go out and shoot a great score playing golf but then get back to work.

My first job was…

really a business that I started with my buddy Steve. We were in junior high and we used to go do yard work in 100+ degree heat to earn money.

My favorite escape…is

probably at the golf course. I love the game of golf and could practice for hours. I enjoy the mental aspect of the game more than anything.

My life…

is pretty darn awesome. It is certainly not without its challenges, but I try to keep things in perspective. I grew up really poor. My family was the one who got adopted during the holidays. When you grow up with that much adversity, you tend to appreciate things a bit more.

I’m currently working on…

training for the World Marathon Challenge, 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents. Let that sink in for a minute.

remember that if you want to be the best you have to work harder than the rest. I may not be the smartest guy, but I will out work anybody.

quit. If you do quit, learn from it, grow from it, improve from it.

Favorite Quote…

“the choices we make dictate the lives we lead.”

Biggest Dream…

to have a second home in Australia. If you’ve never been to Australia, you might not understand this answer. If you have, then you totally get it.

My Pet Peeve(s)…

people who interrupt me when I’m talking. It drives me crazy.
